Letter from Lauren: November
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and this year especially, it’s a welcome moment of pause, to take stock of our blessings, give thanks and really be present. I know my holiday celebrations are going to look a little different this year, as will many of yours, but I’m humbled and more thankful than ever to have my immediate family around me and squeeze my boys extra hard.
This past month I’ve been awed and inspired by this community and the way you’ve rallied around our first-ever holiday meal goal (which we’ve just increased!), to our fourth annual Thanksgiving Meal campaign, which was our biggest yet.
Even amid uncertainty and difficulty in this unprecedented time, this community knows what really counts – things like joy, kindness, love, family time (or FaceTime) and of course, giving back. It’s truly been a driving force for me, and for all of us at Team FEED, inspiring us to do more, give more, and love even harder. So thank you.
Wishing you a safe holiday filled with peace (and lots of pumpkin pie).
Here are a few things I've been loving and living in, this past month:
For the fourth year running, we’ve helped provide a Thanksgiving meal with every purchase, for 48hrs leading up to the holiday. This year, we expanded beyond our home city, to help provide meals in LA and Texas too. I’m thrilled to share that it was our biggest year yet – thanks to you we helped provide hundreds of meals for tomorrow.
Just restocked (!)
One of our most popular products (ever), a bag that sells out in a few days, was just restocked. If you’re hoping to gift a Work Bag this year or had your eye on it for yourself, don’t miss out.
Reading & Watching
Like many of you, I have been cozying up with some fun shows recently like the thriller "The Undoing" on HBO and the stunning new season of "The Crown" on Netflix. I also recently finished reading “Transcendent Kingdom,” by Yaa Gyasi, a coming of age novel about a scientist and the intimate and powerful dynamics of her Ghanian family who settle in Alabama –highly recommend.
We have been stocking Royal Jelly Harlem masks in our store in Brooklyn and we cannot keep them in stock. They are made in Harlem, double lined, and have a great fit with both adult and kid sizes, in an array of cute colors and patterns. It’s a great stocking stuffer for this year that supports a small business!
Happenings at FEED BK
The FEED Shop & Cafe has been decked out for the holidays by yours truly and some of her holiday helpers. There are fun holiday drinks like a Maple Brown Sugar latte and cozy Apple Cider, sweet nibbles, and lots of new fun holiday products and curated FEED Finds to browse and shop. Come see us! We’re open Wed–Sun.
In case you missed it, our FEED Home Collection is back for a second year! It’s such a special collection of handmade goods – from linen aprons to tea towels and hand-thrown ceramics – and this year’s collection helps fight hunger exclusively here at home, by supporting our domestic nonprofit partner, No Kid Hungry.
