Letter from Lauren: October
As the leaves are starting to litter the sidewalks here in NYC, reminding us that late-October has crept up, there’s definitely an element of electricity in the air. Election Day is exactly one week from today and so before we go any further, I have to ask, have you voted?
With many people voting by mail and most states offering early in-person voting, you very well may have (great job!!). If not, please make a plan to vote in person on November 3rd. Wear your mask, bring a book, bring a snack and cast your vote!
This past month has been a whirlwind at FEED. We launched an incredibly meaningful (and cool, in my very biased opinion) limited collection of bags with our friends at Package Free, designed to be completely biodegradable.
We also celebrated alongside the UN World Food Programme as they were awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. As our world prepares to face one of the worst hunger crises we’ve seen in recent years, this honor could not be more important – or well-deserved. I’ve been inspired by their dedication to combating hunger and creating peace every single day since founding FEED in 2007 and I know you have too.
As we head into the winter months and the holiday season, I know a lot of things might look very different this year, but I hope we can lean into the things that inspire us – never forgetting that we all have the power to create change and make a difference, even while we’re apart.
