Letter from Lauren: October
There’s nothing quite like New York City in the Fall. Crisp air, crunchy leaf-strewn sidewalks, and light layers. And it’s over in the blink of an eye, a fleeting season of golden light and cozy sweaters (without puffer jackets over them). Somehow, it’s already Halloween weekend and I have three little boys very eager to dress up in their witch, monkey, and pumpkin costumes. This past month at FEED, we commemorated World Food Day with an ambitious meal goal, launched some exciting and meaningful partnerships, and geared up for the holiday shopping season. Because it’ll be time to wrap up our gifts that give twice before we know it...
Here are a few things I've been loving & living in this past month
Our first-ever World Food Day meal goal of 50,000 meals was not only met, but exceeded, by this incredible community. You helped us provide over 77,000 school meals in just one week – thank you!!
Friends of FEED
For World Food Day, we partnered with Caviar, who donated $1 with every delivery order this month (up to $25,000) to support No Kid Hungry. We also made a special tote (and there’s just a few left).
Reading & Watching
Besides watching the gripping and horrifying "Squid Games" (along with the rest of the world), I just finished a stunning novel by Gabriela Garcia called "Of Women and Salt" about a family from Cuba and the strength & tenacity of women.
We brought back our biggest bag (ever) in a new shade of Army Green and I’ve been toting it around nonstop. There’s almost no limit to what you can fit and for a working mama in the city, that’s pretty essential.
